CPCA HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING

The Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA) held its 103rd annual conference and Annual General Meeting in Halifax from May 25 to 27. The event included giving congratulatory plaques to members of Axalta Coating Systems (shown here, where CPCA chairman Tim Vogel presents the plaque to Axalta's Paul Chaney) and Sherwin-Williams, both of which are celebrating 10 years in business.

Several existing members of the board of directors were re-elected, and the full board slate is as follows: André Buisson (Société Laurentide); Brian Collict (A.R. Monteith); Doug Crabb (Duha Group); Andy Doyle (American Coatings Association); Nancy Houle (BASF); Brent Jamieson (Axalta Coatings); Ron Nakamura (PPG Canada); Darrin Nobel (Home-Hardware Beauti-Tone); Sharon Kelly (KelCoatings); Glen Knowles (Sherwin-Williams); Jeff Snyder (AkzoNobel)

Ed Thompson (L.V. Lomas Ltd.); Richard Tremblay (Benjamin Moore); and Fred Veghelyi (OPC Polymers Canada).

Tim Vogel, CEO of Cloverdale Paint, the current chair of the board, said, “It is great to have several members of the current board re-elected for another term, as it is critical that we provide the continuity needed at a time when the industry faces new challenges on the regulatory front with respect to chemicals management and stewardship. I’m pleased that we will be able to continue on the path we are on with the strategic plan approved last year.”

The conference included the Plenary Business Program, the Chair’s Dinner and Industry Award Presentations, and the Halifax Harbour Tour on the tour-boat Hopper.
