Cameron GreesonGema USA Inc. is pleased to congratulate Cameron Greeson as the winner of the 2023 PCI/Gema Scholarship. Greeson is studying Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University.  During the past two summers, Greeson has contributed to the powder coating industry though his internships at Schafer Powder Coating Inc., located in Whitestown, Ind. 

Mark Schafer, president of Schafer Powder Coating Inc. said, “Cameron undertook a comprehensive review of our powder application equipment, delving into the mechanical, electrical and pneumatic functions of the equipment, including the intricacies of the software. The culmination of his work was the recalibration of all application equipment along with a very worthwhile reliability/repeatability study. The Powder Coating Institute (PCI)/Gema Scholarship is an excellent way to recognise and reward aspiring students who display a strong work ethic and are interested in leveraging their intelligence and curiosity to move our industry forward.  Cameron Greeson epitomizes the sort of student the Powder Coating Institute is looking to reward through its scholarship program.”

Gema is proud to be a part of the PCI Scholarship Program. PCI recently announced the 2023 scholarships going to worthy students who are studying a variety of subjects and interested in careers benefiting the powder coating industry. The criteria for the awards include specific studies and projects relevant to powder coating technology, transcript/GPA, future goals, unique qualifications, and a letter of recommendation from their adviser. As an easy way to measure relative humidity levels quickly, this uniquely compact Bacharach Sling Psychrometer accurately determines per cent relative humidity without the necessity of consulting complex tables. There is no need to wet the wick each time a reading is taken, and it contains a slide rule calculator which correlates wet and dry bulb thermometer indications for direct reading of relative humidity. When not in use, the thermometer case telescopes into the handle for protection.

The Sling Psychrometer consists of two thermometers that are turned by vigorously swinging the handle and exposing the thermometers to rapid air movement. These two thermometers are called dry bulb and wet bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is placed in direct contact with the room air to measure dry-bulb air temperature. The bulb of the other thermometer is covered with a silk or muslin sleeve that is kept moist to record the wet bulb temperature. Evaporation cools the wet bulb more than the dry bulb, and the humidity is obtained as a function of change in temperature. The atmospheric humidity is determined by calculations, steam tables, or using a psychrometric chart. Gardco.com
