Allnex announced plans to acquire a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, India.
The facility was previously owned by coatings resin business, D.R. Coats Ink & Resins Pvt. Ltd. DRC products, sold under the brand names Drokryl, Drokyd, Droplas and Dromel, are part of the acquisition and will be integrated into the allnex product portfolio.
“The acquisition of a production site in Maharashtra, India, is a crucial addition to the global footprint of allnex. It strengthens the strategic direction in which allnex is moving into the future, offering customized solutions focused on new trends and needs of local markets,” said Miguel Mantas, allnex CEO.
The acquisition is a first step for allnex in establishing a broader manufacturing footprint in India—one of the fastest-growing coating markets.
According to allnex, the acquisition and localization of goods will support the company’s close collaboration with local and regional customers, enable the use of local raw material sources and accelerate the speed to market.
Once the acquisition is complete, allnex plans to focus on the production of its range of liquid resins and additives, including alkyds, acrylics, aminos and polyesters. Over time, the company plans to expand production lines to further chemistries.
“This acquisition is a key cornerstone of allnex’s growth strategy, as India is one of the largest market in Asia and one of the fastest growing in the world. Investing in this production hub in India will enable allnex to deliver on its growth targets by supporting customers locally and further promote our sustainable coatings solutions in the region,” said Benoit De Becker, Vice President Strategy and Commercial Excellence.
