MicrocolorMaria Morgis and Albert Henriques are pleased to announce the sale of their multi-generational family business, F.H. & Sons Manufacturing Ltd, to another multi-generational family business.

Established in 1978 by Fernando Henriques, F.H. & Sons Manufacturing has grown into a leading producer of quality colour for the Plastisol business and Plastisol Inks for the garment industry, thanks to the Henriques' family passion, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Maria and Albert, the second-generation successors, were instilled with these same values at an early age, eventually taking over the operation and ownership from their father.

The purchaser of the business is Microcolor Dispersions, owned by Randall Rogers since 2003. Rogers is currently the third generation in his family's business, dating back to Protek Paint's founding in 1950. With the help of his family, including his wife Gail and sons Brandon and Dylan, Rogers has purchased several companies in the paint, colour dispersions, manufacturing, and chemical businesses. The companies include Protek Paint, Microcolor Dispersions, Texturline Decorative Products, Aquarius Coatings and Colonial Pillars.

"We are pleased to welcome another quality manufacturer and their team of trained professionals to our group. From one family business to another, we share their family values which extended to their employees, customers, and suppliers, much the same way as our family business is built on," said Rogers." Their quality products, including colour for the Plastisol business and Plastisol Inks for the garment industry, are some of the finest anywhere and proudly made in Canada. This is definitely an asset for the Canadian garment industry, and we look forward to continuing and building upon it. We are excited to expand their network of customers and distributors globally."

F.H. & Sons Manufacturing Ltd. will continue operations at their current location for a short period before being relocated to 19 Belvia Road, Etobicoke, where warehousing and sales offices will be established. Manufacturing will be distributed between the existing factory at 333 Horner Avenue, Etobicoke, and a new facility in Stoney Creek, which is being set up.

CFCM slingpsychrometer 400Paul N. Gardner USA, global distributors, producers, and designers of quality physical and inspection instruments for the paint, coatings, and related industries, has introduced a new offering: The compact, portable Sling Psychrometer.

As an easy way to measure relative humidity levels quickly, this uniquely compact Bacharach Sling Psychrometer accurately determines per cent relative humidity without the necessity of consulting complex tables. There is no need to wet the wick each time a reading is taken, and it contains a slide rule calculator which correlates wet and dry bulb thermometer indications for direct reading of relative humidity. When not in use, the thermometer case telescopes into the handle for protection.

The Sling Psychrometer consists of two thermometers that are turned by vigorously swinging the handle and exposing the thermometers to rapid air movement. These two thermometers are called dry bulb and wet bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is placed in direct contact with the room air to measure dry-bulb air temperature. The bulb of the other thermometer is covered with a silk or muslin sleeve that is kept moist to record the wet bulb temperature. Evaporation cools the wet bulb more than the dry bulb, and the humidity is obtained as a function of change in temperature. The atmospheric humidity is determined by calculations, steam tables, or using a psychrometric chart. Gardco.com
